Self Confidence - Stand UP Foundation

Tape 10: Self Confidence

Stand UP’s “13 Reasons Why We Stand Up for Social and Emotional Health” for the #GreatGive17 is designed to connect within the community, become educated on social and emotional health topics, and provide resources for and support those struggling. This blog is to share information about the importance of Self Confidence.

Issues with self-confidence cultivate inside minds of all ages, many of which are as young as elementary school children. Having a low self esteem and/or self-love not only darkens individuals’ days; it can translate into forms of depression, anxiety/ stress, and self-harm, as well. Sophomore Women Making Waves member Quinn McKenna, who once struggled with maintaining self-confidence, says that through the Stand UP Foundation (and Women Making Waves), she has “learned to love herself and pick out the good in the bad. She has learned to see herself in a much more positive light.” One of the many goals of the organization, teaching kids self-love is only possible with others’ support, especially from the Great Give. With the resources acquired from this day of donating, the Stand UP Foundation can address more children and help them foster strong self-love and love for others around them. As Junior Men Moving Mountains member Kenny Geremia states, “We do this through a sense of communal effort” with people across the map.
