Stand UP’s “13 Reasons Why We Stand Up for Social and Emotional Health” for the #GreatGive17 is designed to connect within the community, become educated on social and emotional health topics, and provide resources for and support those struggling. This blog is to share information about the importance of healthy relationships.
Friendships and relationships: rough waters to navigate in a teen’s life. The most concerning difficulty of this, however, is that many teens do not have the ability to discern between a healthy and an unhealthy friendship and/or relationship. Sophomore Women Making Waves member Anna McLean says this topic is important to her because throughout middle school and the beginning of high school, “there were times she found herself in relationships that she felt were not the best for her, but she didn't know if she was making the right decision trying to leave or ending the relationships.” Anna is one of countless kids- in Palm Beach County and Martin County alone- who feel conflicted in their relationships. The Stand UP Foundation brings awareness to the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships and teaches kids what is acceptable and what is not. Senior Men Moving Mountains member Jimmy Kaiser says that “through the programs offered by the Stand UP Foundation, we are able to help these elementary, middle, and high schoolers build healthy relationships that will last a lifetime.” By donating through the Great Give, the organization will be allowed more programs to reach out to kids and voice its messages to smoothen the transitions between elementary and middle school, middle school and high school, high school and college, and beyond.
