Stand UP’s “13 Reasons Why We Stand Up for Social and Emotional Health” for the #GreatGive17 is designed to connect within the community, become educated on social and emotional health topics, and provide resources for and support those struggling. This blog is to share information about the importance of bullying education, awareness and prevention.
Bullying is something that every kid could experience in one way or another, and almost everybody has experienced it at least once in their lives. The prevalence of bullying in our society today is why it is so important to develop meaningful relationships with people who can get you through these hard times. Senior member Hannah Thompson says, “Our discussions [on bullying] let kids know that they're not alone if they feel left out, or don’t know how to handle certain situations with friends.” Senior member Alec Sullivan says, “I really hope that this year, with the additional funding given to the organization through the Great Give, we can put on more events to educate people of all ages on why bullying happens, and take steps to eradicate it permanently.”
